Latest Updates from Our Project:

Stretch Goal listed
about 3 years ago – Mon, Mar 01, 2021 at 01:59:32 PM

I just made an adjustment to the project page on the first stretch goal.

At $5,000 everyone who pledges at the $99 level and above (including earlybird levels) will receive a set of 5 doors for the dungeon: 1 on a long wall, 1 on a medium wall, and 3 on a short wall. Extras will be available in the Backerkit survey after the project ends.

I like the design of the door, but I think I may put them on a 1/4" base instead of the 3/8". I think that will make it look a little bit better.  The above doors are also only 1 sided, but I think I'll engrave on both sides so that it doesn't matter which side you are looking at.

One backer also mentioned something about have a door that will open. Honestly, this might not be an option. I'm going to play around with a few different ideas, but I'm not sure how things will turn out. I'll keep playing with it, though.

I also did a test of a few different colors for special tiles. Below is a magic circle tile in pink, purple and green. I'd appreciate some feedback on them. I also have a few other colors (blue, yellow, probably a couple others) but thought these would show the colors the best. The coloring is "Unicorn Spit" (actual product name) and is a pretty nice gel stain.

Moving the Tiles

Finally, I wanted to show a quick picture that I took by mistake, but is a great illustration of one of the big advantages of Luxury Tiles.

I took these pictures on my gaming table. Since COVID, there hasn't been much actual play at the table, so it is accumulating a lot of stuff on it. So when I made the dungeon for the picture of the doors, I centered it in the middle of the table and took the pictures. I really didn't have extra room on the table to take pictures of the Magic Circle tiles, so do you want to know what I did?

I pushed it off to the side.

The whole dungeon in about 2 seconds. I wasn't trying to be careful, I wasn't trying to keep everything together, I just pushed it out of the way.

And NOTHING in the dungeon came apart. It slid aside and I didn't have to worry about messing up the dungeon format. The walls didn't budge, the entire floor moved as a single unit, it didn't come apart AT ALL.

There are a lot of great dungeon tile systems out there. I've backed Dwarven Forge multiple times and LOVED the tiles. They are great. But you can't do that with them. You'd have to move every single tile and rebuild the entire thing if you wanted to move it. I've seen dungeon tile systems that use magnets to keep together, and they work well 75% of the time. But there is no way you can move them like I moved this board.

So, in my opinion, this is a huge difference between this system and others. You can move it quickly and easily. You get to use squares by the walls. You can use miniatures in action poses next to walls without having that wall interfere with play. These are the things that makes Luxury Tiles different from the rest.

Thank you for backing and please share this project with your friends.

Strech Goal announced
about 3 years ago – Sun, Feb 28, 2021 at 06:18:41 AM

I spent a little time working on doors yesterday. Here is the first picture of the doors that can be added to the project.

The double door (left) will go on a full sized wall, a single door (right) will be on both the short wall as well as the medium wall.

As a stretch goal, when we reach $5,000, every backer at the domestic tier and above (basically, all tiers except the add-ons and pledge without a reward), will receive 4 single doors on the short wall, 1 single door on a medium wall and 1 double door on a long wall at no cost.  These will also be available for purchase as an add-on (price to be determined). The doors will be of maple on a walnut base.

Tomorrow I will get better pictures of the doors on an actual gaming grid.

I also did a test run of a summoning circle engraving on a floor tile and stained them different colors. They didn't turn out quite the way I wanted, so I want to try again before I post a picture.

We've stalled a little bit here, so I'm adding some more to the advertising budget on FB and Google. But nothing is a substitute for good old fashioned word of mouth. So please take a couple seconds and share this campaign with your friends who play RPGs.

I'll get some pictures and the stretch goal up on the main page soon. Until then, thanks again for your support.

First day 300% of goal!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 24, 2021 at 08:09:20 AM

Thank you everyone who has backed this project so far. In the first 24 hours, we bashed through the (admittedly low) goal. Just to let you know, I try to keep my initial goal relatively low because my type of product doesn't require new machinery or molds or some expensive outlay that needs covered. My biggest expenses are materials and advertising, hence the low goal amount.

So, we've busted  through the first goal and now we need to start getting the word out. There is still 24 hours to get in on the earlybird deal, so if you have friends who might be interested, please share the link with them so they get the earlybird deal.

Now I'd like everyone to start thinking about stretch goals. Because my material costs don't go down with volume, there isn't a lot that I can offer for free, but I can do a couple things. So let me know what you might be interested in by posting in the comments section. Some current ideas:

  • doors
  • different designs for the floor tiles
  • different stains (Note: I generally don't like using stains, but if there is a demand for it let me know. There are lots of vibrant colors for stains that I could look at. I still have some Unicorn Spit that might work well)

This is the time to get creative. Let me know what YOU want. If it is doable either as a freebee or as an add-on, I'm up for it. I can't say I'll say yes to everything, but lets share ideas and see where it takes us.

Final note: I won't be spamming you on a daily basis with updates, but I do try to keep everyone informed and the best way to do that is through updates. I'll probably do 2-3 updates a week during the project and then weekly to bi-weekly after the project to keep everyone in the know. As always, if you have questions, please post them in the comments section. The more comments there, the better for algorithms and stuff.

Until next time, Spread the word! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hrothgarshoard/luxury-dungeon

Funded in an hour (or so)
about 3 years ago – Tue, Feb 23, 2021 at 10:07:56 AM

I've been busy promoting the project and just saw the alert that we've already reached the funding goal! Outstanding! Thank you all. It's been about an hour, so this is a great start.

Every project's ultimate success depends on getting the word out early and often. So please be sure to share the project with your gaming friends. Every share helps.

I want this to be our biggest project ever. Think we can do it?
